With its French-influenced design and architecture, the hotel consists of three buildings set in the most sophisticated private garden in Madrid, with fountains and terraces shaded by ancient chestnut trees. The guest rooms are full of special details and historical references that immerse you in the past.
The palace of the Duke of Santo Mauro was built by the architect Juan Bautista Lázaro de Diego between 1899 - 1902. It is a palace with a layout following the French taste. In 1890, Mariano Fernández de Henestrosa received the title of Duke of Santo Mauro as a reward for his services to the crown. He married Casilda Salabert y Arteaga, the First Duchess of Santo Mauro, and this is the beginning of his history and descendants. After the death of the Duke of Santo Mauro, the family continued to live in the Palace until it was confiscated during the Civil War, and a few years later they returned. It was the seat of successive embassies, from Romania, Canada and the Philippines and in 1989 it became a hotel.
Restaurante La Biblioteca Gresca: Attentive service and the best musical ambiance fully live up to the promise of “life in a palace”. Renowned chef Rafa Peña brings the expertise of the good work of his restaurant Gresca to the hotel, thus offering a variety of dishes based on the careful selection of seasonal products and classic recipes from his repertoire. Located in the original library of the palace, guests can enjoy not only a cuisine in keeping with the surroundings of a noble house, but also a unique setting.
Gresca Wine Bar: The menu of the Gresca Wine Bar, with a more informal and relaxed character, can be enjoyed in any of its lounges or on the terrace.
The hotel offers different types of rooms spread out across the three buildings. Each room is different and carefully decorated and prepared, giving a special personality to each of the hotel’s rooms.
The new suites reflect the mixture of influences so characteristic of the 19th century, a time of travel and discovery, and are a display of both aesthetic and technical elements.
Children under age 12 stay free in room using existing bedding.
Deluxe rooms feature smart and nice corners perfectly designed to maintain the essence and adapt it to the current days.
Premium Deluxe rooms are located between the small palace at the former stables and the main palace which reflects the same French Classicism.
