Gimme a Spring Break: Getaways Close to Home
Mid-Winter and Spring Breaks come up a lot faster than anticipated every year. We just get through the holiday season and once again it’s time to plan. Here are some great destinations to take the whole family while the kids are on break.
History is fun in Washington D.C.
Washington D.C.
There is a lot to see and do in Washington D.C. - Opens a dialog The United States Capitol Building welcomes visitors from all over the U.S. and the world. You can get a glimpse of life in the White House at the White House Visitor’s Center. The Smithsonian Museums offer fun and educational experiences, with most of them at no cost to visitors. The National Air and Space Museum and the National Museum of Natural History are two of my family's favorites. If you are looking to learn about intrigue and espionage, try the International Spy Museum, which boasts the largest collection of international espionage artifacts on display.
Anaheim is a beautiful destination to explore.
Anaheim, California
On the other side of the continental U.S. is Anaheim, California. - Opens a dialog
Home to Disneyland® Resort, - Opens a dialog Disney's California Adventure® Park and Downtown Disney® District, it won’t take long to find something to do that is fun for both adults and kids. If you get a chance, make it over to Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar located at the Disneyland Hotel for the delicious Pu Pu Platter. You might want to order two, and a Krakatoa Punch for the adults and a Schweitzer Falls for the kids. The atmosphere and food here are better than the back side of water!

Denver's City Park is near both Denver Zoo and Denver Museum of Nature & Science.
Denver, Colorado
If you are looking for more of a midwest destination, Denver - Opens a dialog offers unforgettable experiences for everyone. Want theme park excitement? Elitch Gardens Theme & Water Park has thrills and spills for all ages. With names like Brain Drain and Mind Eraser, these coasters are not for the timid! There are plenty of rides for kids as well, including the Tilt-A-Whirl, Big Wheel and many more. If a museum is more your speed, visit Denver Museum of Nature & Science, located near the Denver Zoo at City Park. This museum has been declared “best museum ever” by my seven-year-old son, who loved every bit of it.
