What to Expect Now That You’re Traveling Again
With the CDC saying that fully vaccinated people can start going without masks, many people (including myself) are ready to get out there again. In getting out there, I’ve noticed that some things have changed in the vacation experience. It’s different and can be jarring if you don’t know what to expect or plan for. Here are some of my observations about post-pandemic travel I’d like to share.
Flying doesn't have to be scary as long as you're prepared.
Flights
Flying can be a somewhat scary proposition but airlines are doing a wonderful job of making it a lot less stressful. One thing you should know is that masks are required onboard aircraft, even if you are fully vaccinated. For peace of mind be advised that aircraft have HEPA filters that remove 99.9% of airborne particles and air in the cabin is exchanged every three minutes, which is probably better circulation than in your office!
Check with your hotel/resort upon checking in for housekeeping schedules.
Housekeeping
One of the best things about going on vacation is that someone else cleans up, takes out the garbage, makes the bed, provides shampoo and clean towels. Because of the pandemic, many hotels now offer housekeeping sporadically, or upon request instead of automatically. This is to keep both you and the housekeepers as safe as possible. I usually go to the store and pick up some antibacterial wipes (and snacks!) to bring back to the room, and use the included bags for the inevitable garbage (which I take out myself). Please check with your hotel/resort to confirm the housekeeping policy, especially if you like your room made up daily.

Eating out is a favorite part of going on vacation.
Restaurants
I love eating out, the best things I make are reservations! With the limited seating capacity, restaurants fill up fast. I recommend making restaurant reservations even prior to stepping on the airplane. A lot of restaurants are still not open yet, so do some research prior to your vacation so you can plan for the culinary experience you are looking for.
